What is a doula?
A birth doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to individuals and families during pregnancy, labor, and childbirth. Doulas help create a calm and empowering environment by offering comfort techniques, and helping families understand their options to make informed decisions. Their goal is to help you feel confident, respected, and cared for every step of the way, no matter what type of birth you’re planning.
How is a doula different from a midwife?
A doula and a midwife both play important roles in supporting individuals during pregnancy and childbirth, but they serve different functions. A midwife is a licensed healthcare professional who provides medical care, including monitoring the health of both the mother and baby, delivering the baby, and managing any medical interventions that may arise. In contrast, a doula is a trained support person who offers emotional, physical, and informational support throughout the birth process but does not provide medical care.
What services do you offer?
We offer a range of services, including birth support, prenatal support, continuous labor support, a postpartum visit, and breastfeeding support. As well as 1:1 consulting and childbirth education.
What are the benefits of having a doula?
Studies have shown that having a doula present during labor can lead to shorter labor times, fewer interventions, and increased satisfaction with the birth experience.

What are the signs of labor?
While there are many signs of labor. Some signs of labor include regular contractions, changes in the cervix, water breaking, bloody show, and increased vaginal discharge. These signs can indicate that labor is starting, but it’s important to note that every woman’s experience is different. It’s a good idea to talk with your healthcare provider to learn more about what to expect during labor and when to contact them.
Should I exercise during pregnancy?
Yes, most pregnant women can safely engage in exercise during pregnancy. However, it is important to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program. Your provider can help you determine what types and amount of exercise are appropriate for you based on your individual health and pregnancy status. In general, low-impact exercises such as walking, swimming, and yoga are safe for most pregnant women.
How can I manage postpartum pain?
Managing postpartum pain can be done through pain medication, cold or heat therapy, gentle exercise, and getting adequate rest. Talk to your healthcare provider about your pain management options, and be sure to take any medication as directed. Applying a cold pack or warm compress to the affected area, gentle exercise, and getting plenty of rest can also help alleviate pain and promote healing.
How can a birth doula help support my partner during birth?
A birth doula can support a partner by offering guidance on how to comfort and assist the birthing person, while also providing them with reassurance and space to rest when needed. This allows the partner to actively participate in the birth experience without feeling overwhelmed or unsure of how to help.
